I need better office furniture. As I sit here in my camp chair, straining my wrists since the chair is a little too short for the desk, or perhaps the desk is too tall for the chair, I realize the Goldilocks complex I’m living in. Behind me there is a wooden dining room chair (okay, it’s technically a patio chair, but trust me, if you saw it you’d deem it a dining room chair) with my memory foam pillow on the seat. There are times when I use that chair configuration at my desk, but I find it’s too tall so I curl up my legs against my desk only to later discover my shins are sore. Not to forget that despite the memory foam pillow, my butt still gets sore when I spend hours researching and writing. My other option is a short upholstered chair with a deep seat so I use a large decorative pillow to boost my position upright. That chair is too short putting a lot of pressure on my wrists and the pillow and cushions become too soft over time leaving my back aching.
Let’s review:
-Wood Chair with Memory Foam Pillow - Too hard, Too tall
-Upholstered Chair with Large Decorative Pillow – Too soft, Too short
-Camp Chair – In between but still not right
This Goldilocks is on the hunt for a new computer chair! But it must be free or cheap. We’re keeping an eye out on thrift stores and yard sales. Wish me luck!
