My Husband Just Rescued Me from a 4 Foot Snake!

My husband and I were sitting in the living room on our computers when I realized it was nearly 5pm. I needed to go to the apartment office to put more money on my laundry card and they close at 5. I asked if he'd like to go with me and he gladly joined me for a short a walk. As we were traversing the parking lot, I told him about how earlier I went to get the mail and stopped by the pond to watch the turtles. He said he'd like to see the turtles too, so after I loaded my laundry card, we made our way to the pond.

We toured around the pond and spotted a few turtles swimming. Then we walked out to the woods and did a little exploring, just because. After a few minutes we decided to venture back to our apartment. As we walked along the gravel path talking, all of a sudden Joshua yelled, "LOOK OUT!!!" and grabbed me by the waist pulling me to the other side of the path. I screamed from being startled, but glanced back and realized why he pulled me out of the way. There was a huge, dark, 4 foot snake that I was just about to step on! We ran to the picnic table nearby and quickly climbed on top.

So what happened, Joshua had been looking around at the trees and looked over in time to see that I was about to step on a snake, which I hadn't noticed because I was looking in his direction as he talked. I saw a little something out of the corner of my eye and assumed it was a twig. What I didn't observe was the long dark creature attached to this "twig" lurking in the shadows. Joshua miraculously changed his gaze to the ground in time to witness the scary snake I was about to step on. In just a few seconds Joshua grabbed me and pulled me to the other side of him getting me out of harm's way while putting himself out front to protect me, but just as quickly we fled the reach of the snake and retreating to the picnic table.

My husband is now my hero :-)
